R/V Cobb was listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NR) on February 11, 2009. The Johnson Partnership (TJP) Principal, Larry E. Johnson, AIA, prepared the NR nomination at the request of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) after the vessel was decommissioned earlier this year. TJP staff, Howard Miller assisted with photography. A recent NOAA article has additional information about the vessel.

NR listing will assist the vessel’s future stewards in obtaining funds to maintain this heritage vessel for future generations.
“This was one of the most interesting and fun projects I’ve had the honor to work on. I’m delighted that NOAA has taken this step to ensure the future of the vessel.” — Larry E. Johnson.
